Requirements
What you need to run it
Defender Status is small and undemanding, but it is Windows-only by design. Below is a live check of the device you are reading this on.
Requirements
Checked against what your browser is permitted to report.
Windows 10 or Windows 11
The app reads the Microsoft Defender module, which only exists on Windows.
64-bit processor and OS
The published build targets win-x64.
.NET runtime
Not required. The runtime is bundled inside the executable.
Administrator rights
Optional. Needed only to read the exclusions list and use the Actions page.
Disk space
About 60 MB for the single executable, plus a small settings folder.
Internet connection
Only for the update check. Can be turned off in Settings.
Your current device
This is everything the page can see about the machine you are on right now. A browser cannot read the Windows build number or installed Defender version, so those are reported by the app itself once it runs.
