Privacy
Short version: nothing is collected.
The application
Defender Status has no telemetry, no analytics and no crash reporting. It does not have an account system and does not ask for one. Everything it reads from Defender stays on your machine.
- No data leaves the device except the update check described below.
- Settings and logs are stored under
%LOCALAPPDATA%\DefenderStatusand never uploaded. Deleting that folder removes them. - Reports are written only where you choose — your Documents folder or the clipboard.
The update check
When enabled, the app makes an ordinary HTTPS request to the public GitHub Releases API at api.github.com for this repository. Like any web request, that necessarily tells GitHub your IP address. No personal information, device name, scan data or identifier is sent. You can turn the check off in Settings, after which the app makes no network requests at all.
This website
This site is served as static files from Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts. The only script on the page handles the download confirmation dialog and runs entirely in your browser. The download itself is served by GitHub, whose own privacy terms apply to that request.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the change will be recorded in the repository's history and noted in the release it ships with.
